Get distracted in Yamba. A medium sized seaside town with a big bite.
Yamba is 10 - 15 minutes off the highway just south of the Harwood Bridge that sits over the Clarence River.
It's the perfect place to refresh and rejuvenate or spend a day out especially if you love to chill out in cafes, picnic in river or seaside parks, hang out at the beach, swim, surf, kayak, paddleboard, take the boat for a spin, explore rocky foreshores, have a hit of golf or do a spot of shopping in a laid back seaside village. When I dropped in I loved it so much I stayed a few days. Some of the beaches are unpatrolled so do take care. See the link below for where it's safe to swim. Whales pass by between May and November and there's some great hilltop viewing spots. Two of my faves are Clarence Head and Yamba Point. If you have a pooch there's a couple of spots where they can stretch their legs, some of which they can be off a leash such as Pippi Beach and Wattle Park. Feeling peckish? There's lots of spots to grab a feed, coffee or an ale and if it's fresh seafood you are looking for there's plenty on offer in and around town. The Fisherman's Co-op is down in River Street. If you happen to be in town on the fourth Sunday of the month you can pick up heaps of treats at the Riverside Markets. Services are limited but you can get the basics, like fuel, doctors, banking and of course the Post Office.
If you too find it hard to leave there's plenty of cool options for places to stay. Want to know more? Check out the links below.
