Get distracted in Potato Point. A small coastal town in very natural surrounds
From either direction the quickest way is via Potato Point (south end of Bodalla). This route will take you about 10 minutes. If you are looking to get up close and personal with nature while enjoying being by the sea, you won't be disappointed. There's not much here in the way of shops or services though so pick up supplies before you head in. There are lots of other options for what you can do when you get there. Drive dirt tracks (not too rough and not too far) to see other parts of this beautiful coast and walk for miles on the sand and walkways to where Potato Point meets up with Tuross Inlet. Prefer to stick to bitumen, there's several spots around town to access the beach, sit on grassy foreshores, paddle in the shallows, hit the surf, snorkel around the rocky outcrops or picnic by the creek or sea. Many beaches are unpatrolled so do take care. No matter what you decide to do you are likely to be joined by the local wildlife - always remember to stay safe - although they often get up close and personal and are beautiful creatures to see, they can turn mean. Locals were walking their dogs on the main beach but there are some rules. If you want to let your pooch have a run, head down to Jamison Beach in the south. Check out the link below. Amenities can be found at the start of the national park on the corner of Riverview and Tuross Head Streets - just near the Troll Bridge. Potato Point, although inhabited has managed to maintain superb natural surrounds - you will enjoy if you like this sort of spot to stop.
