Get distracted by the Stockton Bight Dunes. Lotsa fun to be had.
About 25 minutes from the Pacific Highway, just on the fringe of Anna Bay. You can also get onto the sand from the southern end at Stockton Beach, just north of Newcastle. If you have the time check it out. (allow a couple of hours at least) It's a natural phenomena in the Worimi Conservation Lands. It's a great place to play and explore: on foot, on horseback, on quadbikes, on camels, on toboggans and sand boards and in 4 wheel drives. Permits are required and you can only drive in designated areas and the same goes for letting your dog have a stretch - see 'Things You Should Know' in the useful links). Don't forget to take plenty of water. Got none? Duck into town it's on the edge.
