Get distracted on the Ballina Breakwall. You will certainly come away refreshed.
Coming from the highway in the south via River Street and through town from the north via Tamarind Drive it will take 10 - 15 minutes. It's easy to be mesmerised by nature when on the break wall so it's good to make sure you have time to thoroughly enjoy. Time can slip by. My 1 hour visits have often turned into 3. It's a superb place to just watch the waves, enjoy the fresh air, explore the rock walls, throw in a line and most of all watch the sea life, they often put on a great show. It's a perfect place to forget about 'day to day' life and be reminded of the beauty of our natural surrounds. The locals will often stop for a chat because they too feel totally relaxed when on the wall. There are amenities in the park at the start of the wall, but make sure you take your own refreshments - there's no shops closeby. You can walk your pooch, but he/she must be on a leash. If you are up for a good long walk there's great cycle/walking paths along the Richmond Rivers edge from town out to 'the walls' end. If you have the time, it's certainly a great place to refresh and revive.
