POINT DANGER

Get distracted in Point Danger. Spectacular views from the headlands, where Queensland and New South Wales meet.

The Lookout - Marine Parade

A 10 - 15 minute drive off the highway from the north via Kirra and Coolangatta, most of which runs alongside the beautiful beaches of this southern stretch. If coming from the south via Kennedy Drive Tweed Heads, it will take about the same. This way, you will pass through the Tweed shopping strip.

As you reach the headland there's the lookout and parklands where you can enjoy the spectacular views, watch the whales go by between May and November, picnic or play in the surrounding parks or grab a bite to eat in the headland café. If you feel like a short hike, there's walking paths down to Snapper Rocks and when you get there you can cool off in the natural rock pools. You can also hike, drive or ride down the hill on either side to get down on the beaches - Rainbow Bay to the north and Duranbah to the south. The latter is a perfect spot to get out on the waves - a surfers and boogie-boarders paradise. Unfortunately it's not patrolled so best to stick to just paddling your feet if you don't have a board.

You also have the option to stroll along the rivers edge back towards town. Here is ideal if you want to kayak, throw in a line or picnic or play in the grassy riverside parks. Want to walk your pooch? Check the signs or the link below. If you need to access services, fill up with fuel or do a spot of shopping, there's lots on offer just down the hill in the Tweed and Coolangatta.
