Get distracted in Crescent Head. Explore naturally sculpted landscapes etched out by the sea.
At the end of the 10 to 15 minute drive from the highway there's a great surprise. It's Crescent Head. The turn off is just south of Kempsey and it's a comfy rural drive. There's a few basic SERVICES, a sprinkling of cool SHOPS and yes you can pick up GROCERIES and fill up with FUEL. It's the perfect place to:
- Stretch the legs - A CYCLE or STROLL between the headlands is a cool thing to do
- EXPLORE the rocky foreshores, snorkel the shallows or surf the swell on Pebbly beach
- COOL OFF on the sandy shores of Killick Beach - a popular swimming and fishing spot
- Perch on top of a grassy hill and take in the superb VIEWS from the Little Nobby & Big Nobby - Crescent Head lookouts. If there between May and November, keep an eye out for WHALES.
There's plenty of PARKS to PLAY, PICNIC or BBQ in and a range of options for a bite to EAT and DRINK - dine in or takeaway. If you are into GOLF, have a hit on one of the most scenic courses I have seen, right on the edge of the sea.... and if you like to take the 4WD for a spin on the sand you can do this too. You do have to have a permit though. Everyone I know who has dropped in here has been thrilled they did. Some have even returned to stay in the CARAVAN PARK where you step out of your tent/van straight onto the sand. I obviously need to do the same - I believe the Killick Creek bridge has been renewed since my last visit. If you have the time it's certainly worth the trip in - a top place to REFRESH and REJUVENATE !!
